Operation Church Preparedness: Oct 1-7, 2007

Sept 22, 2007

Dear Prayer Leader,

A number of prayer leaders from different churches and denominations in Hampton Roads including Northside, Southside and the Peninsular have been praying together and dialoguing for sometime about our region. We have noted an increased urgency from respected church leaders in our region as well as nationwide with regards to the safety and protection of our region from outside effects, including weather related disasters and man made acts such as terrorism. This increased urgency seems to be also mirrored by our regional governments and disaster preparedness organizations.

After being in prayer about these concerns for a while, it seems good to us and the Holy Spirit for the church in our region to come together in an urgent unified front for the protection of our region. As Christian leaders, we know this is not a time for panic, but for God inspired leadership and unified stewardship of our resources.

Our response is three-fold:

  1. First on a very practical level - we are calling on churches to implement a disaster preparedness plan for their congregation and to serve our region.
  2. Second on a personal level - we are calling on churches to encourage individuals to secure proper insurance for their personal properties and to have adequate supplies for various types of disasters.
  3. Third and most importantly on a unified spiritual level - we are dedicating the month of October as a month to come together for prayer for the protection of our region as well as to pray for a spiritual shift in our region and by extension - our nation.

Below are further details about our unified plan for the protection of our region, which we are calling "Operation Church Preparedness." A feature of this plan includes a seven-day morning watch prayer (the morning watch is 3:00 - A.M. - 6:00 A.M.). This is a highly unusual step but one that we feel will signal our desire to go beyond our own convenience. It also signifies the time that the Lord protected his people from their enemies through his miraculous powers over both the weather, atmospheric conditions and an opposing army. (Exodus 14: 24).

Let's join together as one army, ready for the protection of our region.

Yours for the protection and security of Hampton Roads,
Chris Cunningham, New Life Providence
Russell Evenson,
World Outreach Worship Center
(on behalf of Prayer Leaders from around Hampton Roads).

Prayer Watch

The entire month of October is being designated as a month to pray for the protection of our region and to seek God for a divine positive shift in the spiritual, governmental, economic, and social atmosphere of our region.

Toward this end, there will be continuous prayer at the Tidewater House of Prayer, 5441 Virginia Beach Blvd. Suite 114, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. (This is just a block west of Haynes Furniture and about 3 blocks east of Newtown Road on V. Bch Blvd). Please call 757-226-3507 to register to pray.
Coordinator: Pastor Miguel Dabul, Director - Tidewater Regional Prayer Network

This Prayer Watch will also be in association with prayer efforts in Israel, Spain/Turkey/Gibraltar area spearheaded by Norm and Debbie Przybylski, directors of Intercessors Arise, who are from the Hampton Roads Area.

Morning Watch Prayer
Our Morning Watch prayer effort will kick off our month of prayer for our region. Start Date for the Morning Watch Prayer is October 1, 2007.

As noted before, each meeting will be from 3:00 A.M. - 6:00 A.M. We encourage congregations to participate in as many of these meetings as possible. For convenience and to maximize participation, meetings will be in different venues. Please note also that some churches will be open all seven days for prayer, while the Southside churches will alternate venues.

Practical Preparations
After Hurricane Katrina, the church emerged as the organization in the best position to help the community. We believe that if our regional churches enact disaster preparedness plans, they would be in a better position to show the love of Christ. A disaster preparedness plan could include having discussions with members regarding immediate disaster response (who does what, how and where), and also having supplies able to assist members and the community in cases of emergencies.

Please contact your local disaster preparedness organization for further instructions as to how you may prepare.

Personal Preparations
The church will be in a better position to assist the community if our members are able to recover after a disaster. We therefore encourage churches to help members understand the importance of having proper insurance for their personal properties as well as stock up on necessary supplies as recommended by disaster preparedness organizations.

Thank you for taking the time to read this email, which is admittedly a little long. However, we wanted to communicate as clearly as possible the urgency we feel for a unified prayer effort. Let us be proactive in our prayer efforts and not wait for something negative to spur us into action.

If you would like to be a part of this prayer effort, please let us know. You may do so by responding to this email or calling Chris Cunningham 757-424-1907 or

Prayer Points for "Operation Church Preparedness"

The following is a brief list of items over which prayer leaders in Hampton Roads have already been praying. These are the main areas over which we will be praying during the Morning Watches. However, we also encourage you to add your own prayer points as the Holy Spirit directs.

Our call is to establish “A Line of Grace” over our region to have far reaching effects for the Nation.

1. Pray for a full blown fresh move of The Holy Spirit in the Body of Christ for Sept and Oct. 2007.

2. Pray The Body of Christ rise up to be The Now Church of healing – salvation – deliverance – harvest.

3. Pray a Prayer Shield of Protection against disaster and attack from storms – terrorism.

4. Pray over the prophetic words found within a prophecy by Chuck Pierce for this area Fall of 2007 (full text of this word and others are available on request and will also be available at each morning prayer watch).

5. Pray that there will be a regional and national impact through prayer and decree of God’s Word.

6. Pray The Body of Christ and this area will PROFIT and a time of prosperity come in a new way for Salvation – Leaders – People.

7. Pray that our congregations will be ready to serve the community in all eventualities.
